Auntie Marcella was a wonderful cook and baker. This recipe is always a treat. Whether for a picnic, potluck or a late night treat, this cross between a pie and a bar is a delicious choice. Use tart apples, like a Granny Smith, Honey Crisp or Braeburn. Perfect by itself or serve with whipped cream or ice cream. Best when served just out of the oven.
