Fresh Strawberry Ice Cream

Good ice cream is easy to find. Poor ice cream, even easier. Great ice cream, not so much. When I could not get strawberry ice cream from my favorite brand after 3 months, I decided I would try making it on my own. Now I may never go back.

This recipe uses fresh strawberries, milk and cream...no eggs...to make a smooth and creamy, and flavorful strawberry ice cream. This recipe should work in any ice cream maker but follow your manufacturers instructions. My current ice cream machine is a Cuisinart ICE-30BCP1. Highly rated but there are some tricks to making the most creamy and smooth ice cream.

Makes about 2 quarts.

The mix can be refrigerated for several days prior to freezing in an ice cream maker. Just stir well before pouring into the maker.

A half batch, yielding about a quart, works the best in my machine, for the creamiest and smooth ice cream.
