Also called salsa fresca and salsa cruda, this type of salsa is commonly used in Mexican cuisine. It is traditionally made from chopped tomato, onion, and serrano peppers (jalapeños or habaneros may be used as alternatives), with salt, lime juice, and cilantro.
It can be eaten on chips, as an ingredient in tacos and burritos, or like a condiment for anything like fajitas to hot dogs.
