Pineapple Upside-Down Cake

A slightly dense cake topped with pineapples, maraschino cherries and a pineapple syrup is a delicious treat after any meal or a late night snack. This recipe uses a round, 9-inch cake pan but would work well in an 8 x 8 square pan as well. Serve warm or room temperature, alone or with whipped or ice cream.
