Serbian Beef Burek

"Burek sa Mesom" is a dish from Serbia. Burek is common throughout the eastern Mediterranean region. It consists of phyllo dough or puff pastry, in layers or as a wrap. Filled with meat and root vegetables and then baked. Definitely a dish that should be prepared and refrigerated several hours before baking. Bake directly from the refrigerator, no need to let to come to room temperature. Serve with a cooked green or salad for a complete meal. Optionally you can add bell peppers (sautéed with the onions) and/or fresh greens (broccoli/asparagus/chopped spinach to the cooled meat)

Rest: 2 hours

Bake: 45 minutes

Total: 3+ hours
