Timballo (with Genovese sauce)

Timballo is an Italian pasta dish, like a spaghetti pie but more of a cake in formation. Genovese sauce is made by slow cooking sweet onions with meat until the onions are so soft that they fall apart, and then blended. Between the layers of pasta and sauce, a filling of peas, bacon, Provolone cheese and meatballs. Served with a simple salad and Italian bread and this hearty meal will satisfy any appetite.
